How to Design Your Own Tissue Paper
- 1). Spread newspaper out on a large flat surface. Dye white tissue paper in an artistic manner by mixing water with watercolor paint and brushing it on the tissue in free-form patterns. Or, pour the watercolor paint into a plastic spray bottle. Mist it onto the tissue paper for a pleasing effect. Use more than one color if you want. Colors in the same hue will create a subtle look. Colors that contrast will create a tie-dye effect.
- 2). Allow tissue to dry thoroughly.
- 3). Add a light application of glitter spray to the dry painted paper, if desired. Let it dry.
- 4). Use rubber stamps to create your own custom pattern. You might do the entire sheet with just one stamp or create a theme using two or three related stamps, such as three different leaf patterns. Consider choosing a theme that is unique to your family, the recipient or the gift that you are wrapping.
- 5). Apply stickers to the tissue. You can also use stickers to create a border or a medallion in the center of the paper, rather than an all-over design.
