Differing Ways To Decide On Liposuction
It is amazing how casually we sometimes make decisions.
Perhaps it is because of the way I was raised, but I tend to make lists, weigh options, do research, and then come to conclusions.
I go through this process for big choices, and little ones.
Sure, when you plan a vacation it is more important to budget and research hotels and tour companies than it is to make sure you save a dime or quarter on orange juice at the grocery store.
I probably do not need to investigate the companies that make cottage cheese before going to the supermarket.
In any event, my friend Jenny literally sat down on the couch one day, turned on the television, and a short time later was on the way to the doctor's office to have liposuction.
In no way am I painting liposuction in a bad light.
I have considered it, meticulously researched it, and concluded that it is something that I will seriously consider after I am done having children.
From what I understand, it is safe as surgeries go, the results tend to be excellent, it's an easy procedure to go through, and the results are long lasting.
That being said, I've known Jenny for more than a decade.
She is a good looking, vibrant, talented, successful woman.
Our relationship has been close from the first time we worked on a project together for a non-profit organization.
We have shared a lot about each other to one another.
I am up on her fears, desires, and even a piercing she has in an ever-so-private area.
Because I know Jenny well, when the phone rang and she told me she just got off the phone with the doctor's office and next week she had an appointment to discuss her upcoming liposuction procedure I was floored.
She had never mentioned lipo, and in fact, I honestly couldn't imagine how she suddenly had decided this was a must.
Just a few weeks earlier she had expressed how happy she was.
In any event, apparently she was sitting down and cooling off after a trip to the gym and turned on a TV show with women about our age talking about health and fitness.
One of them, a regular runner who occasionally competed in short races, mentioned that her success as an athlete had improved after undergoing liposuction.
She said it was because the better she looked, the more motivated she was to work out longer.
Because her trips to the gym were getting longer, she was in better shape.
Jenny is a smart woman.
She knew that surgery did not mean anything in terms of her athletic prowess.
However, she didn't see a downside to having the procedure, so she called to make an appointment to talk about the ins and outs of surgery.
While her decision came in a much different manner than I make up my mind, learning about options, especially when it is something like liposuction that has become standard and accepted, is not wrong, just a different way to live your life.
