The Nokia CEO StephenElop said in the internal memorandum that Nokia is attacked from the up and down end. On one hand, it's the apple and Android. And on the other hand, there is China cheap mobile phone on the emerging market. Previously, Nokia joined the hands with Microsoft to counter attack the up end.

Now Nokia also takes actions on the low end. It launches the 50 dollars music phone to regain the advantage of the emerging market. Though it's affected, the cheap phone manufacturers don't appear to be negative because the product price is about 30 dollars. There is still space.

Low price music phone
"On the low end mobile phone market, it's in the surprising speed that the China OEM manufacturers launch the new phone. A Nokia staff said, 'They take less time to launch a new phone than we revise a Power point.' They own the fast speed and cheap price. They are throwing down the challenge. We need a decision. When we are losing the market share, we are also losing the brand reputation and time."

The mass cheap mobile phone doesn't contribute to the profit all the time. But it's important to capture the market share. Nokia is losing ground on the high end smartphone field, but it can still maintain 30% of the world market share. The low end mobile phone can't be left unrecognized.

When Nokia is allied with Microsoft to regain the smartphone market, Elop doesn't forget the footstone of the market share - low end phone.

Currently, Nokia publishes a music phone X1-00 with the S30 platform. The mobile supports 38 hours music playback and 61-day standby time. And it has the lound speaker. The features are posessed by the China OEM product. Nokia marks a competitive price on the mobile - 50 dollars.

The responsible people of G-Five said the local consumption group is from 18 to 30 on the typical Indian emerging market. The bank clerk's salary is only about 300 dollars per month. So the mobile price of G-five is settled at 40 to 60 dollars. And it's to the expectation of the rural market on price. And the power cut is very common in Indian. Thus, it has the high requirment on the standby time. That's why the Chinese products are competitive.

Though the Nokia can't launch the different models to different market like the Chinese wholesaler, from the prospect of X1-00, they begin to gather them all. With the brand and quality reputation of Nokia, they regain the market.
