How to Clean Install Win XP
- 1). Insert the XP installation disk into your CD drive and reboot the system. Windows will reboot. As it restarts, it will pause and display the message, "Press any key to boot from CD."
- 2). Press any key and Windows will display the Setup screen. Press "Enter" to view the Licensing Agreement screen.
- 3). Read the licensing agreement and press "F8" to proceed to the next screen. You will see a list of disk drives in your computer. Use the arrow keys to select the drive where you want to install XP and press "Enter."
- 4). Press "Enter" again. Windows will format your hard drive. This process can take up to half an hour. You can leave your computer unattended during this task. After Windows formats the hard drive, the system will reboot and return to an installation wizard.
- 5). Follow the onscreen prompts as the wizard guides you through the installation process. You will see 17 screens during the setup. During the setup, Windows will ask you for such information as your name, desired computer password and the Windows XP Product key. The product key is on the XP CD case.
- 6). Click "Finish" when Windows displays the final "Thank You" screen. XP will start.
