How to Remove a CD Stuck in a Car Player
- 1). Power down the car. You do not want the CD to be spinning or the radio to be on when you are attempting to remove the disc.
- 2). Hold down the front protective flap on the CD insert slot. This flap prevents dust from entering the player, but it also effectively blocks your view. You can use either your fingers or a flat-head screwdriver for this.
- 3). Reach into the CD player with a small pair of needle-nose pliers. Grasp a hold of the CD, lift up slightly and pull out. If the CD puts up resistance and does not move, you need to discontinue this approach. The CD is caught on something in the player and pulling it out further may damage the player and the disc.
- 4). Remove the plastic display casing around the CD player. This front display can typically snap off of the dash. You may need a thin flat-head screwdriver to help pry off the casing. The car's owner manual should have a diagram showing how the display should be removed.
- 5). Pull the CD player out once the display is out of your way. The player is only going to pull out a few inches because the power cables running into the back end hold it back. Disconnect the cables and remove the player completely.
- 6). Remove the protective casing around the CD player using a Phillips screwdriver. Once the casing is off you can see the entire CD. Manipulate the CD and dislodge it from any item it may be stuck on, then pull it through the front of the player.
- 7). Attach the protective casing back onto the player and plug the power from the car into the rear of the player. Set the player back into its slot and place the plastic display back onto the car. This should snap back on with some sound pressure to the corners of the display.
