Law is a system of regulations governing a people, a state, or a community and enforced through a set of establishments put in place by the same people so as to check excesses of citizens, establish, and protect the rights of the same people.
There are many types of law, considering the many facets of everyday life that you are sure to encounter.
The following are just a few types of law that exist.
Contract law: A legally binding agreement between two or more parties as regards a function or an issue that the law will uphold.
Any deviation from the terms agreed upon in the contract amounts to a breach of contract.
Property law.
The portion of the law that protects the rights of citizens to own property, real or personal (i.
e.
land or mobile possessions).
It allows for ownership while at the same time protecting them from being usurped by another.
Trust law.
The segment of the law that governs the holdings of money or property by one person or party for another.
Due to the propensity for humans to assume ownership of what has been in their possession for a long time, this law upholds whatever terms have been stated in the prior agreements by the parties involved.
Tort law.
The section dealing with the relations between citizens and their respective rights.
It is a branch of common law wherein the judge, or jury, or presiding person has the authority to make a decision in the absence of a specific law regarding the issue.
Criminal law.
This is a personal favorite.
It deals with crimes and consequences.
This part of the law may often be considered the most popular (or otherwise) among laymen.
Constitutional law covers the basic laws of specific nation states and political organizations.
It fabricates the structure within which governments function.
International law very simply embodies the law with respect to relationships between states and individuals on the global front.
