- 1). Contact your prepaid carrier to see if it's possible to add a data plan to your prepaid service. T-Mobile, for example, offers several data options for users who select fixed-fee, monthly packages. Once you have an active data plan on your iPhone, your Internet is "always on."
- 2). Get in range of an unprotected wireless network -- or one whose password you have -- whenever you want to use Internet if you can't add a data plan to your prepaid iPhone. The iPhone has a built-in wireless adapter that allows you to connect to Wi-Fi networks as you would using your computer.
- 3). Tap the "Settings" button, then tap the gray "Off" button next to Wi-Fi to activate it, then tap the name of the available wireless connection. Input the password if it asks for one, then click "Join."
