How to Increase the Temp File Size of the Microsoft Jet Registry
- 1). Select the files "System.dat" and "User.dat" and make a copy of them in another folder. This is a safety precaution, and in case anything goes wrong while editing the registry, these files can be used to restore the registry's previous state.
- 2). Click the "Start" menu, then select the "Run" icon. Type "regedit" into the empty text box. Click the "OK" button to launch the Registry Editor.
- 3). Double-click the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" directory, then double-click "Software" from the directory that expands.
- 4). Double-click the "Microsoft" directory, then double-click the "Jet" directory. Double-click the directory that contains the version of Jet that you're using. Then double-click the "Engines" directory.
- 5). Click the folder labeled "Jet 3.0," or whichever folder contains the correct version number. In the right window panel, click the "MaxBufferSize" registry entry.
- 6). Click the "Edit" menu at the top of the Registry Edit window, then select "Modify." Click the radio button to select "Decimal" underneath the "Base" settings.
- 7). Type "512" into the "Value" box. Click the "OK" button to confirm the changes.
