How to Report Overseas Fax Scams
- 1). Identify the sender by gathering information about the fax or faxes. Povide as much information as you can about the perpetrator to the authorities. Log the number of the originating fax machine and any other information that could be used to identify the sender, including company name, website, e-mail address and account information.
- 2). File a report on the scam with your local police. Call the non-emergency number for your local law enforcement agency and tell them you wish to report a fraud case. Ask if there is a division of your the department that deals with crimes of fraud, or for an officer experienced in fax scams. Provide the authorities with as much detail as you can about the incident, and turn over copies of any scam faxes you have in your possession.

Write or call the Federal Communications Commission to file a complaint; the FCC's Consumer and Government Affairs Bureau is the division responsible for investigating and fining those who break laws regarding fraudulent and junk faxes. Contact the FCC via direct mail, phone, fax, or by filling out a form online.
