2 Starting Points For Dealing With Anxiety

Dealing with anxiety is never an easy challenge.
The attacks can seem so overwhelming that you don't even know what to do.
Mild anxiety is actually quite normal and it helps motivate us to do our best on tasks that are ahead of us.
Experiencing anxiety about an upcoming test, job interview, or presentation is entirely normal.
Anxiety is only a problem when it stops being over a specific issue and it starts controlling your life.
If it reaches that point, you should start looking for ways to deal with it.
I've found there are two very simple starting points on dealing with anxiety.
1.
Identify the Trigger
They say there is nothing to fear but fear itself.
You would think that quote was in reference to anxiety if you didn't know better.
When facing a problem like anxiety, it is important to identify the underlying trigger for your attacks.
Though it may be hard to pinpoint, almost all anxiety sufferers have an underlying cause to their worries.
Most fear is based around the unknown - by deciding what exactly it is that you are stressed about, you can use that knowledge to defuse your fear during the next attack.
If you must, write out a list of your worries, and label them 1, 2, 3, etc.
to help you decide what is bothering you.
2.
Attempt to Control the Attacks
Once you have identified the trigger, the next step in dealing with anxiety is to begin attempting to control the attacks.
Though it can be incredibly difficult to do, you've got to tell yourself that you are stronger than this.
Whenever you feel an attack coming on, tell yourself "I will not give in this time," practice some deep breathing, and try to place your mind someplace else.
Listening to a CD, jogging, or writing down your thoughts are great methods that have successfully been used by anxiety sufferers in the past.
At first, it will seem very difficult to control your attacks, but it will get easier with time.
Remember to repeat to yourself "I am in control" and just let everything go.
