How to Slice a Template
- 1). Launch the Adobe PhotoShop application on your computer.
- 2). Open the .PSD version of the template you need to slice.
- 3). Look to the main PhotoShop toolbar along the left side of the screen. Click the "Slice Tool" icon. (The slice tool will display the image of a pen or carving tool.
- 4). Use the mouse to draw a box around the first area of the template you want to slice. Four small, black squares will appear around the outer corners of the first slice. (The slices should consist of the template's individual images, functions, page pieces, and buttons that will be used as links.)
- 5). Click one of the black squares to drag the slice tool over and create another slice. Repeat this action over the entire template until the entire layout has been sliced. Once the whole template is sliced, it should look like a big puzzle.
- 6). Double-click the slice tool to view the Slice Options. Go through the slices, and enter a text name for each slice. This type of organization just makes the sliced images easier to identify when exported.
- 7). Hit the "File" tab, and go to "Save for Web" to export JPEG images of all of the slices to a new folder. When the images are exported, they will all be categorized in the folder in alphabetical order based on the names you provided for each slice.
