How to Calculate Cross Stitch Fabric Size
- 1). Count the number of squares horizontally in the cross stitch pattern and write this number down on the paper. Count the number of squares vertically in the cross stitch pattern and write this number down as well.
- 2). Divide the horizontal number of squares by the count of Aida you wish to use. For example, if your cross stitch pattern has 110 horizontal squares and you wish to use 14-count Aida cloth, divide 110 by 14 to get 7.8 inches. This will be the finished horizontal measurement of your cross stitch fabric if you make it with 14-count Aida cloth.
- 3). Divide the vertical number of squares by the count of Aida you wish to use. For example, if your pattern has 75 vertical squares, divide 75 by 14 to get 5.3 inches. This will be the finished vertical measurement of your cross stitch fabric when you use 14-count Aida cloth.
