How to Attach Clasps to Beaded Jewelry
- 1). Slide a crimp bead over one end of the wire protruding from a beaded wire strand.
- 2). Fit the same end of the wire through the attachment ring on one piece of a clasp. Fold the wire over the ring. Slide the end of the wire back through the crimp bead.
- 3). Press the crimp bead onto the wire with crimping pliers. Feed the excess wire into the nearest beads, or cut it with wire cutters.
- 4). Fit the open section of a crimp bead cover over the crimped bead. With the front section of the crimping pliers, gently press the crimp bead cover closed.
- 5). Repeat the process to add the second clasp section onto the opposite end of the beaded wire strand.
- 1). Slide the end of a beaded elastic or soft monofilament line cord through the ring of an eye pin. Tie an overhand knot in the beading cord. Tie another overhand knot on top of the first one. If you are knotting elastic, stretch the elastic between knots. Cover the knots with jeweler's glue.
- 2). Fit the eye pin wire through a bead cone so that it protrudes from the narrow end. Slide the cone over the wire to rest against the circle and to cover the knot.
- 3). Grip the protruding wire with round nose pliers as it exits the cone. Twist the pliers to bend the wire at a 90 degree angle. Grip the bent section of the wire with the pliers. Twist the pliers to bend the tip end of the bent wire towards the bead cone to form an open loop. Cut away the excess wire.
- 4). Fit the open eye pin loop through the attachment ring on one section of a clasp. Close the loop.
- 5). Repeat the process to attach the second clasp section to the opposite end of the strand.
