    • 1). Click the Windows icon in the bottom-left of the screen to open the "Start" menu.

    • 2). Enter "Create and format hard disk partitions" into the "Search program and files" field and press "Enter" to open the "Disk Management" utility.

    • 3). Right-click an unallocated segment of the drive you want to partition in the bottom half of the utility window, then select the "New Simple Volume" option. If the drive does not have any unallocated space, you need to right-click on an existing partition first and select the "Shrink Volume" option to deallocate space for a new partition. Enter the amount by which you want to shrink the existing partition in the "Enter the amount of space to shrink in MB" field, then click the "Shrink" button to free this space for your new partition.

    • 4). Click "Next" in the "New Simple Volume" menu and enter the size of your new partition in the "Simple volume size in MB" field. Then click "Next."

    • 5). Choose a drive letter for your new partition, then click "Next."

    • 6). Enter a name for your new partition in the "Volume label" field, click "Next," then click "Finish." This will format the unallocated space using the NTFS file system and allocate it to a new logical drive.
