What Language Do They Speak in Barcelona?:
This question is not as silly as it may sound as there are a number of Languages Spoken in Spain.
In Barcelona they speak Catalan. This is a language roughly half-way between Spanish and French. It is not a dialect of Spanish and though it can be understood by most Spaniards to an extent, it is no substitute to learning actual (Castillian) Spanish.
The Accent and Dialect You'll Hear in Barcelona:
You will mainly hear Catalan in the streets of Barcelona, not Castillian Spanish. Even road signs and advertisements are in Catalan. You will find newspapers, TV and radio in both languages.
When the Catalans speak Castillian Spanish, they speak with a good accent. But if you can't heard it spoken in the streets, you lose one of the main advantages of learning Spanish in Spain.
There are a lot of immigrants in Barcelona, from all over Spain and Latin America. They will speak with their own Spanish accent.
Lifestyle in Barcelona:
Barcelona is the most popular tourist destination in Spain. The streets are filled with people throughout the year. As with Madrid, you can do everything in Barcelona - museums, international cuisine, art exhibitions - you name it.
Climate in Barcelona:
Barcelona doesn't get as hot as the south or Madrid, nor does it get as cold as some northern parts of Spain. In summer you'll get a tan, but you'll need to wrap up warm in winter.
