The Instructions to Repair a Bike Tire
- 1). Remove the wheel that is punctured from the bike. Make sure the tire is completely deflated by removing the dust cap and pressing the valve.
- 2). Remove the outer tire. Push a tire lever under the lip of the tire and clip its hook around a spoke. Take a second tire lever and carefully push it under the tire lip next to the first lever. Work it around about a third of the tire, pulling the lip over the wheel as you go, and hook it around another spoke. Repeat this process with the third tire lever. The tire will be loose enough to be removed from the wheel by hand.
- 3). Remove the outer tire and inner tube from the wheel. Inflate the inner with the pump until you locate the source of the puncture. Listen for a hissing sound if the puncture is not immediately apparent. Mark the hole with chalk and deflate the tube.
- 4). Sandpaper around the hole to allow a better stick from the glue. Apply glue around the hole, covering the same size as the patch you will use. Wait for the glue to partially dry and apply the patch, completely covering the hole. Wait several minutes until the glue has completely dried. Check that the puncture has been repaired by inflating the inner tube.
- 5). Return the valve of the inner tube through the rim of the wheel. Put the outer tire back over the inner, half over the rim of the wheel, and push the partially inflated inner into the outer all the way around the tire. Start at the valve and push the second half of the tire onto the rim of the wheel and work it on all the way around wheel. Fully inflate the tire and reattach the wheel to the bike.
