LISTENING
· Read the instructions carefully and ensure you comply with them.
· Part I and II are relatively easier. Try and score well in these sections.
· Don't panic and concentrate on what is being said. The art of Prediction comes with practice.
· Don"t leave any blanks. There is no negative marking for wrong answers.
READING
· If you get stuck at a question leave it and move on. Revisit it later if you have time.
· Don"t panic if you don"t know anything about the subject matter of the given passage. All the answers are in the passage and you don"t need any specialist knowledge.
· Try and predict content of paragraphs from the opening sentence.
· Give an imaginary heading to every paragraph you read.
WRITING
· Clearly divide paragraphs as introduction, main body, and conclusion. Paragraph simply, with one idea in each paragraph.
· Avoid paraphrasing. Don"t repeat ideas in a different way.
· Don't deviate from the topic and avoid informal language.
· Learn to recognise how long 150 words (Task 1) and 250 (Task 2) words look in your handwriting. You will not get the time to count.
SPEAKING
· The examiner will assess you on your grammatical range, lexical resource, content and accent.
· Don"t learn any prepared answers. The examiner is trained to spot this and will change the question.
· The topics covered are generally predictable and based on familiar settings. Good practice will help you sail through this module.
· Give reasonable information €" don't be too brief or go over board.
