How to Make a Trundle Wheel
- 1). Adjust your mathematical compass to a 5.73-inch radius. It must be exact so that the diameter of your circle is 11.46 inches. A circle of this diameter will be exactly 36 inches around its circumference.
- 2). Place the point of the compass in the center of your square and draw a circle. Cut along the resulting line with your jigsaw. Work slowly, but keep the wood moving at all times.
- 3). Drill a 1-inch hole through the center of your wooden disc. Drill a 3/4-inch hole through the end of your 1-inch thick dowel rod, spacing the hole about 1 inch from the end of the dowel.
- 4). Line up the hole in the dowel with the hole in your disc. Twist a 3/4-inch bolt through the dowel and slip it into the disc. Screw the nut on the other end of the bolt. The wheel should be able to turn easily without sticking or wobbling.
- 5). Paint a red stripe across the edge of the wheel where it lines up with the dowel rod handle. When you measure, line the red line up with the handle. Each time the red mark passes the handle, you've measured 1 yard.
