    Cohen and Tate

    • The 1988 film Cohen and Tate starring Roy Scheider of "Jaws" fame and Adam Baldwin from the TV series "Chuck" was a film about two hitmen. The movie sees the classic old pro partnered with the over-zealous young gun as its theme. Scheider and Baldwin kidnap a child and travel across country to deliver him to their employer. The movie was not a huge success and did not receive much notice for the big industry awards. It did receive a nomination for best film at the Catalonian Film Festival.

    The Hit

    • The 1984 British film "The Hit" starred several top U.K. acting names such as Terrance Stamp, Tim Roth and John Hurt. The film features Hurt and Roth as two hitmen tracking down ex-gangster informant Stamp, who is hiding out in Spain. The movie received reasonable acclaim on the independent scene, scoring best actor awards for Hurt, Roth and Stamp at Mystfest and the Evening Standard Film Awards. Also, in one of his earliest roles, Roth received a nomination at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards for best newcomer.

    Malone

    • The 1987 film "Malone" sees Burt Reynolds as an ex-CIA hitman running from his past life and previous employers. The plot finds Reynolds, as Richard Malone, hiding out in a small town terrorized and controlled by a mercenary group. Reynolds' character is the only one who can free the town from the tyrannical grip of a rich land owner and a corrupt sheriff. The film never received any noticeable recognition from the mainstream or independent movie communities.

    Buddy Buddy

    • The 1981 film "Buddy Buddy" places a comedic twist on hitman movies. Starring the comedy pairing of Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon, the plot is a comedy of errors. Matthau is the hired gun aiming to kill a mob informant and Lemmon plays a man whose life is falling apart. The pair cross paths and a series of events lead to them becoming friends. Matthau is unable to perform his hit and Lemmon tries to finish the job in his stead. The film did not receive any notable notice from either the mainstream or independent communities.
