Introduction and Supplies
Making a gorgeous pair of earrings is super quick and easy with these sterling hoop components created by the APAC Tool Company and available from John Mathieu at Jewelrythings, Inc. With these components, all you need are a few more findings and beads. In this project, I decided to bling it up and use crystal beads.
You will need the following tools and jewelry supplies:
2 Hoop components (item no.
E2096-S-T264)
2 Sterling clutches (to help secure hoops to you ears)
6 Sterling head pins
6 - 4mm Swarovski sapphire-blue bicone crystals
Wire cutters
Chain-nosed pliers
Round-nosed pliers
About the Hoop Component
These hoop components are made of sterling silver and already have three loops attached to the center area of each of them. They are basically already to go other than adding some dangles, which will be explained in the following steps.
1. Begin by sliding one crystal onto one head pin, then use round-nosed pliers and start a wrapped loop.
2. Before you finish wrapping the loop closed, slip it onto one of the loops on your hoop component. Then wrap the loop closed and use wire cutters to trim off the head pin if necessary.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to create two more crystal dangles and add them onto your hoop.
4. Now repeat all the previous steps in this tutorial for your second hoop earring.
5. Finish off the earrings by sliding your sterling clutch onto the post of each of the hoops.
Now dazzle your friends and neighbors by modeling your beautiful earrings! You can create a lot of different looks by just using different beads. I think it would also look pretty cool to add some chain to the hoops' loops and dangle beads from the end of the chains too.
