How to Increase the Virtual Memory of Windows
- 1). Log in to the administrator account In Windows Vista. Click the "Start" button in the left lower corner of your screen.
- 2). Click "Control Panel" and choose "System and Maintenance."
- 3). Click "System." Then select "Advanced system settings" on the left panel.
- 4). Select the tab "Advanced" and click "Settings" in the field "Performance."
- 5). Select the tab "Advanced" and read the current size of the virtual memory in the field "Virtual memory." For example, "Total paging file size for all drives: 2048 Mb."
- 6). Click "Change" and uncheck the box "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives." Select the radio button "Custom size."
- 7). Enter the desired virtually memory size (in megabytes) in the fields "Initial size" and "Maximum size." Note, it is recommended to enter the same amount of memory in both fields to increase the system performance.
- 8). Click "OK." Then click "Yes" to restart the computer.

- 3). Click on "Performance and Maintenance." Then click "System" and select the tab "Advanced."

- 5). Read the current size of the virtual memory in the field "Virtual memory." For example, "Total paging file size for all drives: 3000 Mb."
- 6). Click "Change" and enter the desired virtually memory size (in megabytes) in the fields "Initial size" and "Maximum size." Note, it is recommended to enter the same amount of memory in both fields to increase the system performance.
- 7). Click "OK." Then click "Yes" to restart the computer.
