How Do I Get to the Command Prompt From a Blue Screen?
- 1). Reboot your computer. Stop errors effectively freeze your computer, rendering keyboard and mouse commands ineffective. Physically restarting the machine is the only way to proceed following a stop error.
- 2). Press and hold F8 once the reboot process starts. Continue holding the F8 key until you are presented with the Advanced Boot Options menu.
- 3). Use the down arrow key to highlight the "Safe Mode with Command Prompt" option. Press "Enter" to load Windows with the command prompt window instead of the normal Windows interface.
