How to Learn Buddhism Online
- 1). Register for online classes at a college or university such as Naropa University or Maitripa College. Naropa University costs $810 per credit hour plus technology fees. Non-credit options can be taken for around $450 for three credit hours. Maitripa College has a flat pricing of $314 per credit hour.
- 2). Create an account and register with Naropa University by clicking the "Register" link in the menu. Select the classes you wish to attend and prepay. Within 24-48 hours you will be activated and able to use the online campus for the semester you registered for. For Maitripa College simply fill out the registration form and prepay for the courses you wish to take. No admission process is required for either Naropa University or Maitripa College.
- 3). Attend webinars, made available once enrolled, and read the information sent to your email to learn how to navigate the online campus, payment options, and to learn about course study aids. Maitripa College will invoice you via email before the semester begins and payment details will be included there. Naropa University will have payment details listed in the account you created.
- 4). Download formal study courses from learning institutes such as the Asian Classics Institute. Click on "Formal Study Courses" under "Classes Online" and select the corresponding course. The entire course is available for download by clicking the "Course.zip" link on the courses page. There is no cost for this program and no application process is required; however, you will not receive credit or a degree for completion of these programs.
- 5). Visit websites such as DharmaNet and BuddhaNet for free online courses that can be studied at any pace. Click the link corresponding to any online lesson to begin. There are no costs or application process for these lessons and you will not receive credit or a degree for their completion.
