How to Connect to a DVR on a Network
- 1). Turn on the computer and double-click the "Start" or Microsoft "Flag" button in the lower left-hand corner for a Windows PC, or click "Network" on a Mac computer desktop.
- 2). Select the name of the network from the list in the drop-down menu that appears. If the computer is connected to a single network, click the name for that network.
- 3). Select the DVR's assigned ID number or the name given to the DVR when it was hooked up, such as "Security DVR 1" or "Home Theater DVR," then double click on that name to access the DVR on the computer.
- 1). Turn on the computer and open a web browser, such as Internet Explorer or Firefox.
- 2). Access the website for the DVR service provider, such as Dish Network, TiVO, DireTV or other subscription service.
- 3). Enter the customer ID number and password in the fields provided to access the account for the networked DVR. The customer ID number should appear on the monthly billing statement.
- 4). Select programs to record on the DVR, manage the prerecorded library of shows and set record timing options from the computer, using the software with the TV service. Using the software in most cases is simply a matter of pointing and clicking on options with the computer mouse.
