How to Dual Boot XP With OSX
- 1). Run Boot Camp Assistant. Open "Macintosh HD" on the Macintosh computer's desktop and look in the "Applications" folder for a folder named "Utilities." Inside the "Utilities" folder, locate the utility program "Boot Camp Assistant." Then run that program.
- 2). Choose how much space to allocate to Microsoft Windows XP. Boot Camp Assistant will prompt for this information. A minimum of 32 GB is recommended.
- 3). Start the installation process. When prompted, insert an installation digital versatile disc (DVD) of Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition or Professional with Service Pack 2 (SP2) or later. The Mac will reboot into Windows XP setup.
- 4). Install Windows XP. Choose the "BOOTCAMP" partition when prompted for a location to install Windows XP. Format the partition with the NT File System (NTFS). When the installation of Windows XP completes, the computer will reboot into Windows.
- 5). Insert a Mac OS X version 10.5 or later installation disk after the computer fully restarts in Windows. The system will locate and install additional drivers required by Boot Camp from the OS X installation disk.
- 6). Select Windows XP as the operating system. Depress the "Option" key on the computer keyboard during restart. A menu will prompt for the choice of operating system. Select Windows XP, and the system will start up in Windows XP.
