    Remove automatic startup programs using the Registry Editor

    • 1). Click the Windows "Start" button and select "Run."

    • 2). Type "regedit" and click "OK" to open the Windows Registry Editor.

    • 3). Locate the top-level folder labeled "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE." Click the arrow next to the folder name to expand it. Repeat the process for each of the following sub-folders: "Software" > "Microsoft" > "Windows" > "CurrentVersion" > "Run."

    • 4). Look to the right-hand side of the Registry Editor screen. Right-click on the Registry key associated with the program you want to prevent from starting automatically and select "Delete." Click "Yes" when prompted to confirm your choice.

    Remove automatic startup programs using Windows Services

    • 1). Click the Windows "Start" button, open the "Settings" folder, and click "Control Panel."

    • 2). Double-click the "Administrative Tools" icon, then double-click the "Services" icon.

    • 3). Double-click the name of the program you no longer want to start automatically.

    • 4). Click the "Startup type" drop-down menu and change the setting from "Automatic" to "Disabled."

    • 5). Click "OK" to confirm the change.
