Nintendo 3DS eShop
Definition:
The Nintendo eShop is a digital marketplace that's accessible through the Nintendo 3DS. The eShop sells downloadable games and applications. It also provides trailers, information, and ratings for games that are available at retail.
In order to access the eShop, your Nintendo 3DS must be able to go online. Unlike the Nintendo DSi Shop, the eShop's transactions are all conducted via real cash denominations: You cannot use "Nintendo Points" to buy games or apps.
You can find the portable-based Virtual Console on the eShop and buy portable games that were published on handhelds like the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance. You can also buy and download 3D Classics, which are remakes of classic NES and arcade games that take full advantage of the Nintendo 3DS's 3D capabilities. The eShop also sells and distributes Nintendo DSiWare, which are original, downloadable games.
The eShop also hosts the Nintendo Video app, which lets you view trailers, short clips, and demo videos (videos are downloaded automatically via SpotPass as long as Wi-Fi is enabled). If you're a Netflix subscriber, the eShop is where you need to go to download the Nintendo 3DS Netflix app.
