Best places to enjoy Malaysian street food in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur is not only a beautiful place, but it is also popular for its street food. It will not be incorrect to say that it is a paradise for food lovers, because it presents quite a dilemma to food lovers. You can enjoy different kinds of food born of multiple ethnicities (Chinese, Indian and Malay) and also, myriad cultural influences (Arab, Indonesian and Portuguese). The food lovers get confused, not about what to eat, but what to forgo. If you are a food lover and plans a visit to Kuala Lumpur, then the good news for you is that some of the top street food hawkers are located near the centre of town that may be the location of your stay. Some of them are as follows :

CT Garden
If you are one of the fans of Nasi lemak, which is the quintessential Malay dish, then Kampung Baru is the perfect place for you, and CT Garden is the area's most famous stall. This stall has been around for more than three decades. This stall remains open from 6pm to 5am daily. Its delicious fragrant coconut rice are packed in small packets together with a quarter hard-boiled egg, as well as, ikan bilis. Although, the cost if one packet is only RM0.80 (S$0.32), you would take at least 2-3 packets as the quantity of food in one packet is quite small. The USP of the stall is its tasty side dishes and the visitor must not forget to taste the sambal tempe. It has just the right combination of sweet and spicy and it remains crispy, not soggy.

Restoran Super Kitchen
It is located at just 10 minutes' walk from Medan Tuanku monorail station. The restaurant is popular for the Chilly Pan Mee and this beats many of the pan mee stalls that you will find in coffee shops. You can add some minced pork, a poached egg, ikan bilis and fried shallots in the freshly rolled handmade pan mee. If you like spicy flavour, then you can also top it off with a spoonful of chilli flakes. This shop is run by the owner and his brothers since a decade.

Ampang Yong Tow Foo
The stall is run by Lee brothers through a pushcart from more than 25 years. They are selling Hakka yong tau foo since they were in their teens. The stall remains open from 6 to 10pm (closed on Tuesdays). The crowd start gathering around the stall the moment it opens to taste the bestseller of the stall i.e. the deep-fried wonton.

Shin Kee Beef Noodles Specialist
Shin Kee is very famous for the dry beef noodles, which are even considered one of the best in Kuala Lumpur. You are advised to come early for lunch; otherwise, you have to stand around for a seat at one of its 7 small tables. The cost of a small bowl is RM7 and the large bowl is RM9.

Fierce Curry House
The eatery has been open for only about a year. It is extremely popular for its yummy briyani and banana leaf rice. The mutton briyani is the most popular among its 14 types of briyani that it sells. You can visit Fierce Curry House from 10.30am to 10.30pm daily.
