How to Rename a Root Drive
- 1). Double-click on "My Computer" or click on the "Start" button and choose "Computer."
- 2). Right-click on the "C:" drive or whichever drive you wish to rename and choose "Properties" from the drop-down menu options.
- 3). Select the "General" tab, type the name you wish to have for that drive, click "Apply" and then "OK."
- 1). Go to "Start" and click on "Run." A dialog box opens up. Type "diskmgmt.msc" in the provided text field, then click "OK" to open the disk management utility.
- 2). Right-click on the drive you wish to rename, click on "Change Drive Letter and Paths..." from the drop-down menu options.
- 3). Click "Change" and choose the drive letter you wish to assign. Make sure the letter name you want to use is not being used by another drive in your computer. A warning sign opens up prompting you to agree to confirm the changes. Close the disk management utility when finished.
