How to Format a Dell XPS M1730

    • 1). Insert the Windows DVD into the XPS M1730's disk drive. Restart the computer.

    • 2). Press any key to launch the Windows DVD when prompted.

    • 3). Enter your language, region and date/time format. Click "Install Windows." Accept the license agreement. Select "Custom" installation.

    • 4). Select the XPS M1730's hard drive, and click "Drive Options (advanced)." Click "Delete" to erase the Dell's hard drive. Click "New" to create a new partition using the "NTFS" file system. This reformats the Dell's hard drive.

    • 5). Select the newly created drive as the install destination.

    • 6). Follow the remaining on-screen prompts to finish the installation. You are asked to enter a computer name, and other personal configuration issues. The system will reboot when the install completes.
