How to Shoot a Single Action Revolver
- 1). Use your thumb--or your free hand--to pull the hammer of the revolver back into the firing--or "cocked"--position. Pull the hammer back until you have heard three distinct "click" noises. The third click is the "cocked" position.
- 2). Point the revolver down-range and aim at your chosen target. Keep in mind that early gun sights on revolvers are not especially accurate, so your first shot may miss.
- 3). Squeeze the trigger smoothly. Do not try to jerk the trigger back, as doing so can ruin your aim. Continue squeezing until the revolver fires.
- 4). Repeat Steps 1 through 4 until the revolver is empty or until you are finished firing.
